War of Rights Free Download. War of Rights is a first person multiplayer game with a focus on historical authenticity set during the perilous days of the American Civil War, in the Maryland Campaign of September, 1862.
Early Access ReviewBeing a history buff, I had high hopes for this game and bought it. After several months of play I think I can give an honest review.Melee is terrible. Beyond stabbing randomly and hoping you hit something other than a team member, there's nothing else to it. There's no way to parry an enemy's attack.
Hit boxes leave you scratching your head as to why you missed but someone else hit you. Firearm combat is a little better, but without a way to track kills, you're left to wonder if what you're doing is effective or not. There's a complete lack of variety in maps and game modes. You will find yourself playing the same three or four maps constantly.Artillery and Cavalry have been promised since launch, but they have never materialized as if it's vaporware.
The developers never give any substantive updates on progress other than 'soon'. While we're on the subject, communication from developers in general seems to be nil lately.

Not only does the game not have the promised Artillery and Cavalry, but existing bugs are never patched with no information as to why unless you go and actively hunt for an answer.Period authentic uniforms and weapons look cool on paper, but in practice you will be playing the same five units with the same two guns over and over. There's no option for the admin to select specific unit or weapon availability on a map.
You're stuck with whatever was there during the battle even in fictional scenarios based on that battle. Some people, myself included, try to give the game more patience because it is in Alpha. It's been in Alpha for years now though with no foreseeable move to Beta or even a final release and has already started to stagnate.
For that reason, I can't recommend anyone purchase this. If you get it at a discount and want to check it out, go for it. Don't pay full price and expect to get what you pay for though. Early Access ReviewI'll go ahead and say this beforehand, I've been following this since before War of Rights had any right being an 'alpha' when all we had was a fancy tech demo.
The devs have the ability to make this game the way the community wants it but for some godawful reason they don't. The short version is that they are slow to update or even fix sometimes and refuse to be as open in their development as their up and coming oppositions. They are hardlined on their ideas and frequently ignore the community.First off, we had to FIGHT for true private servers for events. The servers we did have were cheap, awful messes that crashed often and had spotty service.
You'd think for a game that has a community that expects private regiment v. Regiment events that it would be a thing. Their opposition was on the point that 'public players will be excluded from the community and feel left out' to which after the fact has not shown.Second of all, it has been almost two years since skirmishes went live, and not only do we still have a buggy mess of an 'alpha' to 'play' with (read fight with) to perform, we only have mere hints of Artillery, let alone cavalry, or the games flagship mode in which huge player battles would be done over multiple objectives across all of the skirmish maps lashed together (All of the Antietam maps, Harper's Ferry, South Mountain, and so on).
So as someone who coughed up change in the Kickstarter for the mere hints of what this game should have been, I feel better off going back to the Mod for Warband I came from.Or dare I say following the 'Battle Cry of Freedom' as some have said.I digress, unless the devs at Campfire begin to actually show us work on the game instead of drip-feeding us screenshots through the forum or hearsay in official servers to certain individuals, I cannot recommend this game.
